Vermont Route 100 - September, 27 2006
We enjoyed the trip on the Kangamangus Trail so much we decided to drive over to Vermont and travel up Vt 100 which I remembered as being a nice country drive. This time we had a beautiful sunny day and the color was a little more pronounced albeit muted. We took US 4 west to Killington and then headed north on Vt 100. This eventually reached Interstate 89 which we took home. As we went by a gas station with $2.35 gas Julie noticed that they also had a store where we could get lunch to take out. Julie sees more out the side windows than I do because I have to keep my eye on the road (somebody has to). We turned around and were pleased to find a nice, clean, and well provisioned store where we got sandwiches, chips, and sweets. Now we had to keep a look-out for a place to picnic. We were in luck. A little farther on there was a small park on the bank of the Mad River just perfect for a picnic which you will see in the following pictures. |
