I thought all the work of the contractors was done when the paving was finally done but I was wrong. It really irritates to see the uncaring workers tear up the road surface and drive on the newly planted grass on the cul-de-sac. I can try to repair the lawn but the road damage will be there until it has to be resurfaced which I hope won't be for awhile.
A sure sign of summer, the annual invite to the July Fourth cookout. Ellen and Joan have been looking forward to celebrating Independence on the cul-de-sac for three years. Finally, this year we're going to do it. The grass is coming in nicely, we've certainly had enough water from Mother Nature, now for a little sunshine.

I was looking at some of last year's pictures and thought the neighbors would enjoy the difference a year can make.

After careful watering (water supplied by Munson, Dorr, Hudson, Gachelin, and Woodger) the buds are on the trees and the grass is peeking through the hay. While we were watering Russ Jewell stopped by and said it should be ready for July Fourth celebration. With care and feeding it should.

Berry Landscaping is busy raking the circle getting ready to seed the area. Yesterday they planted the sugar maples (2) and the red maple and three flowering potentillas. As soon as the straw is put down we will wet it down so it won't blow away and soon we will have a carpet of grass (it says here).

What a difference ten months make. This was the weather last March when the house was being built. This was the winter when we payed for plowing each time it was needed.
Now it's the third week in January and there's no snow around (wait until tomorrow). This is the winter when we pay a contract price for the whole season, go figure.
